SUNDAY, SUNDAY, SUNDAY
What Kind of TOOL are you?
For those of you FBC youth who have not been able to make it to Sunday School and those of you who tend to be late, and those of you who are there but need reminders, a quick overview of what we have been talking about!
We have been reading Max Lucado's book entitled "The Potter's Hand" which is full of mini stories in which he talks about people as the tools of God.
Last month we talked about broken tools and what breaks us (giving up after a life crisis, becoming stuck aka not moving on, pride, complacency...). We found that there is some hope for broken tools through the story of Simon Peter when he denied Jesus (Jesus told Peter to 1. repent 2. accept God's peace/forgiveness. 3. Strengthen your brothers). He followed these not so simple steps and was able to move thousands of people to God's cause.
This month we begin to explore tools that are being hammered and shaped on God's anvil.
So far we have learned that this is not the most pleasant of experiences, but that it leads to growth and purpose if we allow it. To find out what kind of TOOL you, are, join us at 9:45 a.m. in the youth room, come early for a little air hockey!
WINTER WEEKEND
Mark your calendar, clear your schedules and dig out your ear muffs for, you guessed it, WINTER WEEKEND. The date we will be going (unless told otherwise by the camp directors) is the weekend of February 27 - March 1, 2009. We will be leaving as a group on Friday evening and returning Sunday afternoon.
The weekend camp will be with other youth groups featuring a Christian speaker and music. Also featuring a great sledding hill, snowball fights, and time away from home!
